1 Dead, 24 Burnt After Bus Crashes Into Container And Catches Fire On Lucknow Expressway

Gurugram: The bus going from Kanpur to Gurugram collided with the container moving ahead with such force that people came out of the nearby houses after hearing the sound. The collision was so severe that the bus overturned – and caught fire as soon as it overturned.

How did people survive after the fire?

Screams were coming from inside. But the flames were so strong that no one could even go near. The villagers ran. Someone poured water, someone called the police. 5 fire engines arrived. The fire was extinguished after great effort. If the villagers had not come at that time, perhaps more dead bodies would have been found.

How much damage was caused in this accident?

There were 30 people in the bus. 24 were burnt. Doctors have also described the condition of 12 as critical. The most painful death was that of bus driver Shambhu. He got stuck in the steering. He couldn't get out and kept burning there.

What did the police do on the spot?

As soon as the news was received, SP City Ravi Shankar Prasad himself reached the spot. CO Tejas Tripathi and Fire Officer Satyendra Pandey were also with him. The driver's body was taken out and sent for postmortem. The injured were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The family members are crying there.

What do the police think is the reason for the accident?

Police say it was night, and the bus was moving fast. Either the driver could not see the container in the dark or fell asleep. Whatever may be the excuse, there was definitely negligence. The container driver is said to be absconding. Police are searching for him.
