Honor Killing (Credit: OpenAI)
Maharashtra: In Maharashtra’s Nanded, a young girl named Aanchal loved a boy called Saksham from another religion. Their relationship was peaceful but her family saw it as shame. They feared society’s reaction more than their daughter’s happiness. Instead of understanding her feelings, they treated love like a serious mistake. This mindset pushed them towards a violent decision that ruined two lives without any regret.
According to police, Aanchal’s father and brother called Saksham to their home on Thursday evening. First they beat him badly in anger. When he could not stand, they shot him in the head. Even after that, their anger continued and they crushed his skull with a stone. The incident happened in Milind Nagar under Itwara police station. Locals were shocked to see such cruelty and silence spread across the area.
Late at night, after Saksham’s death, Aanchal reached the place where his body was kept. She was crying and completely broken. She took sindoor and performed the marriage ritual beside his corpse. People watching said they had never seen anything like this before. Aanchal said if she could not live with him while he was alive, she would not leave him even after death.
Did Religion Destroy Human Relations?
Local residents say her family thought marriage outside religion would insult them. Religious fear and society’s pressure were bigger than love in their eyes. Police investigation says faith-based objection was the main reason for murder. Young people in the area argue that true love does not check caste or religion. This incident questions whether we value traditions more than human life.
Police have arrested Aanchal’s father and brother. The case has been filed under murder, illegal weapon use and criminal conspiracy. Medical reports are being prepared. Authorities said Aanchal will get protection as she is a direct witness. Many people on social media are calling this an honour killing and ask for strict punishment. They hope that the justice system acts quickly and fearlessly.
People are discussing whether honour and religion are still considered bigger than love. Youth groups strongly oppose the incident and say true love can never be judged as a crime. Psychologists believe family pressure and lack of communication cause such extreme actions. This tragedy gives a warning that silence, fear and misunderstanding can turn into violence.
Aanchal’s act shows that love cannot be killed by bullets or stones. Although she lost the person she wanted to spend her life with, her step questions every social rule that stands against humanity. The moment she married his body shows love lives in feelings, not in breath. Now the real question is not for law but for society—will we prevent the next tragedy or wait for another young heart to die?
