National News: Dubai's Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Thursday inaugurated the Dubai campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who is on a two-day visit to the UAE, called it another big leap towards the globalisation of India's education.
Dharmendra Pradhan wrote on the social site X, "This is another big leap towards the globalization of Indian education as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
He said, “The Dubai campus of IIM Ahmedabad will bring the best of India's talent to the world. Dubai has provided an ideal platform to realize the motto of 'Indian spirit, global outlook' by hosting the international campus of IIM Ahmedabad today. We are grateful to Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for making a glorious contribution to India-UAE knowledge cooperation.”
Pradhan also met Abdul Rahman Abdulmannan Al Awar, Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the UAE. The Ministry of Education said in an official statement, “The two leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation in higher education and agreed to further deepen knowledge bridges by making knowledge, innovation and research the central pillars of the comprehensive strategic partnership.”
It further said, "Discussions focused on promoting joint research, capacity building and bilateral cultural and educational exchanges in important and emerging areas. Considering India as a global hub of talent and the UAE as a global economic hub, the two sides emphasized their shared commitment to strengthen people-to-people ties and advance mutual priorities."
On Wednesday, Pradhan visited the Abu Dhabi campus of IIT Delhi. He also inaugurated the Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) at the IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi campus, the first AIC hosted at an Indian institution abroad. The aim of Pradhan's visit to UAE is to explore possibilities of cooperation in the field of education, promote academic excellence and innovations, and explore new avenues of partnership to meet the aspirations of students and youth of both countries.
