IndiGo Issues Statement Amid Ongoing Flight Delay And Cancellations (X)

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing widespread flight delay and cancellations, IndiGo has issued a statement. IndiGo’s operations has left thousands of passengers stranded at different airports for the fourth consecutive day. Notably, hardly any or no information on flight status were shared.

What IndiGo said in its statement?

And now in it's statement, IndiGo stated, "We confirm that all IndiGo domestic flights departing from Delhi Airport (DEL) on Dec 5, 2025 stand cancelled till 11:59 PM. We express our profound apologies to all our valued customers and stakeholders who have been significantly impacted by these unforeseen events.''

It further stated, ''To support our affected customers, we are offering them refreshments, next available flight options as per their preference, hotel accommodation, assistance in retrieving their luggage and full refunds, as applicable..."

Meanwhile, on IndiGo flight cancellations, Commercial Pilot & BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, "For the past several days, air services have been severely disrupted on a very large scale, particularly the services of one airline. Many flights have been canceled, and this has caused significant inconvenience to a lot of people. This is a matter of concern for everyone...The government has intervened in this...After this, I am confident that the transportation services of that one airline which are disrupted will be fully restored..."

Aviation Expert Harsh Vardhan talking about IndiGo flight cancellations, told ANI, "It's a very unprecedented situation in the aviation industry... This is a management failure. Management should have taken proactive steps because the government policy didn't come about in 24 hours. It was deliberate for years. Then a year ago, the policy was finalised... Other operators, like Air India and SpiceJet, have prepared for this situation.''

He further said, ''They have planned for it, and we don't see those kinds of problems with any other operator... Indigo is not a startup anymore... But one of the things which perplexes me is the timing. The government policy started on 1st November 2025, and we are suddenly facing this rampage after one month... A lot of people are saying it is deliberate to push the government to revert to the old policy because the new policy has certain cost implications besides major induction... In the meantime, either Indigo has to reduce operations or go for a crash induction program.

''But even with that, even if you can get trained, qualified manpower, you still need almost a year, a year and a half, to induct and train them into your fleet. It's not that you shift from one car to another. Even if you are qualified in the same aircraft, you take time to familiarise yourself, get regulatory approvals and other things," he further added.
