National News:The Madhya Pradesh High Court has taken a tough stand on the objectionable remarks made on Colonel Sophia Qureshi, a brave officer of the Indian Army and Commander of 'Operation Sindoor'. A division bench of Justice Atul Sreedharan and Justice Anuradha Shukla, taking self -cognizance in the matter, ordered the state government to file an FIR against Minister Vijay Shah within six hours. Also, the DIG has been instructed to appear in court personally.
Tribal Affairs Minister of Madhya Pradesh Vijay Shah commented on Colonel Sofia Qureshi without naming at Raikunda village of Mhow in Indore district, in which he gave him an objectionable address like a 'terrorist's sister'. This statement went viral on social media, after which there was heavy resentment at the political and social level.
The Congress has opened a front regarding Vijay Shah's statement. State Congress President Jeetu Patwari has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding that Vijay Shah be dismissed immediately from the cabinet and guidelines should be set at the national level to prevent such irresponsible statements. Patwari has warned that if the government does not take any action, the Congress will start a statewide agitation.
Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh said that this statement is not only an insult to the dignity of the Indian Army, but it is a direct attack on the unity, social harmony and dignity of women. He said that the BJP is constantly leading the country towards communal polarization and misleading the public.
The Congress has also expressed displeasure over the silence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on this serious matter. Congress leaders say that when a female military officer of the country is humiliated in this way, the Chief Minister's silence shows the failure of leadership.
On Tuesday night, Congress workers staged a strong protest outside the bungalow of Minister Vijay Shah in Shyamala Hills in Bhopal. Activists led by Manoj Shukla shouted slogans on the name plate of the bungalow and demanding the resignation. Tariq Ali, Vijendra Shukla, Amit Khatri, Alimuddin Billa, Mujahid Siddiqui and Mo. Leaders like Aamir were involved.
The High Court bench said during the hearing that no public representative can be allowed to make such irresponsible and derogatory statements, especially when it is about the army and female officer. The court made it clear that the society cannot be allowed to divide the society under the guise of freedom of expression and to hurt the dignity of the nation.
Colonel Sophia Qureshi is the first Muslim woman officer of the Indian Army to increase the value of the country by leading decisive action on terrorists' bases in Operation Sindoor. Not only the army's sentiments have been hurt by such comments made on such a brave officer, but the voices of opposition are being raised from every section of the society.
