PM Modi said in his message that the improved capabilities of the NVS-03 satellite will strengthen India's indigenous navigation system. With this, people across the country will benefit from navigation services. He described this as an important achievement in the direction of self-reliant India in the field of important technologies.

When and where was GSLV-F18 rocket launched?

ISRO's GSLV-F18 rocket lifted off from the second launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota at 11.51 pm on Friday night. More than 20 minutes after liftoff, the rocket successfully placed the NVS-03 satellite into its designated Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).

The success of the mission was announced by ISRO chief Dr. V. Narayanan. He congratulated the scientists, engineers and people associated with the industry for this achievement.

Why is NVS-03 satellite special for India?

NVS-03 weighing about 2,250 kg is the third satellite in ISRO's second generation navigation satellite series. Its main objective is to enhance the capabilities of India's indigenous navigation system NavIC.

NavIC i.e. Navigation with Indian Constellation is India's own satellite navigation system. Through this, navigation services are provided in the country and surrounding areas. The successful launch of NVS-03 will help in further improving this system.

This mission is also special for India because it was the 20th flight of the country's Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV). This success has given a new strength to India's space technology and indigenous capabilities.
