In a heroic act, two journalists in Andhra Pradesh's Bhadrachalam saved a man attempting to end his life by jumping into the River Godavari. The incident occurred on Sunday and was reported by Telangana Today.

Journalists Mohammed Abdul Ghani and Shaik Jakir of Burgampahad were passing by when they noticed a man sitting precariously on the railing of a bridge. Sensing distress, they stopped their vehicle and approached the man, who revealed his intention to take his life. Despite their attempts to dissuade him, the man, identified as Anand from AMC Colony in Bhadrachalam, remained resolute and warned them not to come closer.

Team effort in crisis

A friend of Abdul Ghani, who happened to pass by on a bike, quickly assessed the situation and took action. While Abdul and Shaik engaged the man in conversation, the friend stealthily approached from behind. In a swift move, he grabbed the man, pulling him to safety. The journalists immediately joined in to ensure Anand was secure.

The reason behind the attempt

Reports revealed that Anand was struggling with financial and family problems, which led him to consider suicide. After the rescue, the journalists contacted the police and Anand’s family. Authorities and his relatives soon arrived to take him home.

Call for greater public awareness

Expressing his concerns, Abdul Ghani told Telangana Today that while he and his colleague were trying to save Anand, no other passersby stopped to assist. He highlighted the importance of public intervention during such emergencies.
