Kahalgaon Election 2025 (TIN)
Bhagalpur: This time the election contest on the Kahalgaon assembly seat looks quite exciting. A total of 13 candidates are in the fray here, but the main fight is likely to take a triangular shape between JDU, Congress, and RJD.
Subhanand Mukesh, son of Congress veteran Sadanand Singh, is contesting on a JDU ticket. He was the Congress candidate in the last election and lost to BJP's Pawan Kumar Yadav. This time Congress has made Praveen Singh its candidate. Whereas RJD has fielded Rajneesh Bharti, son of Jharkhand government minister Sanjay Yadav. Manjar Alam is also a candidate from the Jan Suraj Party.
Former MLA Pawan Kumar Yadav, who has rebelled against BJP, and Jan Suraj Party's Manjar Alam are making the contest more interesting. JDU candidates are trying to win by relying on their caste voters as well as upper-caste and Dalit voters. Congress is focusing on its M-Y equation and caste votes. RJD is also entering the electoral fray, relying on the M-Y equation.
This time the Kahalgaon assembly elections are likely to be decided on the basis of the caste equation, the popularity of the former MLA, and local issues.
