Land-for-Jobs Case: Supreme Court Denies Relief to Lalu Yadav, Trial Court to Continue Hearing (Canva)
New Delhi: Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has not got relief from the Supreme Court in the 'Land for Jobs' case. The court rejected his petition, in which he had demanded to cancel the FIR registered against him and the entire action. With this decision, it has become clear that the case will now proceed only in trial court.
The court said it didn't need to intervene at this time. The court did not find grounds to accept the demand for cancellation of the FIR.
The further hearing of the case will take place only in the trial court. Evidence will be presented there, statements of witnesses will be recorded and the case will go through its normal process.
Although complete relief has not been provided, an exemption has definitely been given. Considering his age and health, he has been exempted from appearing personally in every hearing.
The Supreme Court made it clear that only the trial court will decide on the merits of the case. The above court will not interfere in that process at this time.
This controversy is related to the period when Lalu Yadav was the railway minister. It is alleged that in exchange for providing job in Railways, land was taken and it was transferred at a low price.
According to the investigating agencies, some of his family members and close ones are also under investigation in this case. For this reason the case continues to be in the headlines.
Agencies like CBI and ED are investigating this matter. From time to time, new aspects of investigation have been emerging, due to which the seriousness of the case remains.
Experts believe that this decision can also have political impact, especially in the politics of Bihar. However, its real impact will become clear only in the coming time.
