Kolkata: A major political storm has once again erupted in West Bengal politics. Until now, news of the TMC split had created a stir across the country. Now, Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has approached the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday, challenging the Bhabanipur Assembly Election result.

What is the buzz?

After defeat in the Bhabanipur Assembly elections, former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday approached the Calcutta High Court and challenged the poll result.

Senior party leaders Kunal Ghosh and Dola Sen were also present with her. Since the announcement of the election results, Mamata Banerjee had been continuously raising questions about these results. Now, by approaching the court, she has given the entire matter a legal twist.

Is Suvendu's victory in legal trouble?

Mamata Banerjee entered the High Court premises through Gate 'C' at around 2:30 pm and filed her petition there and emerged shortly after. According to experts, this petition is not merely challenging the results, but also demanding the preservation of all important election-related documents.

What was the result?

Suvendu Adhikari defeated Mamata Banerjee in the Bhawanipur seat by a huge margin of 15,105 votes.

This entire incident has caused uproar in the state. Interestingly, this is the second consecutive time Mamata Banerjee has challenged the election results in court. She previously challenged the 2021 Nandigram election results in the High Court, a case that is yet to be resolved.

While Suvendu Adhikari is the winning candidate for the second consecutive time, Mamata Banerjee is fighting a legal battle after losing for the second consecutive time. All eyes are now on the court's stance on this petition and whether it will pose a significant threat to Suvendu's position.
