Indore Murder Case (File)
Indore Couple Case: Sonam Raghuvanshi, a 24-year-old newlywed from Indore, became the focal point of a chilling murder case when her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, was found dead in a gorge near Weisawdong Falls in Meghalaya. The couple had embarked on their honeymoon on May 20, 2025, but by May 23, both had vanished, triggering alarm. Raja’s body, discovered ten days later, revealed a sinister plot, with police alleging Sonam orchestrated his murder, hiring contract killers to execute the crime.
The investigation took a dramatic turn when a tourist guide in Mawlakhiat reported seeing Sonam and Raja with three men on May 23, climbing over 3,000 steps from Nongriat. This sighting, combined with CCTV footage from their hotel, provided critical leads. The Meghalaya Police, led by DGP Idashisha Nongrang, formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and collaborated with the NDRF and SDRF, despite heavy rains hampering efforts. The arrested accomplices confessed that Sonam had paid them, pointing to an extramarital affair as a possible motive, though investigations continue.
After 17 days on the run, Sonam was located on June 8, 2025, at Kashi Dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur road in Uttar Pradesh. In a surprising move, she made a video call to her brother Govind from the dhaba, revealing her location. The dhaba owner, noticing her distress, dialed the police emergency number 112.
