Bihar: Bihar elections have once again been stained with blood in Mokama Tal where violence erupted between two rival groups. The clash turned into chaos when gunshots were fired in open daylight. Villagers say the fight began during campaigning for Jansuraj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi. Dularchand Yadav, who was once close to RJD supremo Lalu Yadav, was present among supporters. Suddenly, a heated argument escalated into physical fight and then into firing. Dularchand was struck by bullets and collapsed at the spot. The incident has left the entire region in shock and fear.
According to eyewitnesses, the fight broke out when groups opposed to each other exchanged abuses during the election drive. Neither side was willing to back down, and tempers flared quickly. The argument turned into a brawl, with sticks and rods flying in the air. Within minutes, gunfire echoed through the rural landscape of Mokama Tal. Panic spread as villagers ran for cover, women and children screamed in fear. In this chaos, Dularchand was targeted and fell on the ground with serious injuries. Despite efforts, he could not survive the gunshots.
Dularchand Yadav was not just any supporter, but a man with influence in Mokama Tal. He had strong connections with political leaders and grassroots workers alike. Once regarded as a trusted aide of Lalu Prasad Yadav, his role carried weight in the region. Recently, he had shifted loyalty towards Jansuraj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi. Just four days ago, Dularchand sang a campaign song for Laloo Mukhiya, boosting morale among supporters. His sudden killing has not only shocked voters but also shaken the confidence of the campaign team. The message of violence during democracy is frightening.
The news of gunfire reached police within minutes and ASP Baadh rushed with a team to control the situation. Local police from Mokama station also reached immediately to secure the area. By the time officers arrived, Dularchand’s body was already lying lifeless, surrounded by terrified villagers. Evidence of bullets and empty shells scattered on the ground were seized. Police took control of the mob and started investigation. Senior officers including the rural SP and SSP also gathered details. The administration has promised strict action, but tension still simmers in Mokama Tal.
Election campaigns in Bihar often bring intense rivalries to the forefront. With loyalties shifting and leaders trying to secure every vote, clashes are not uncommon. However, this killing has escalated matters to a new level. Many believe the murder is the result of political vendetta, targeting Dularchand due to his support for Piyush Priyadarshi. Villagers whisper about deep-seated enmity between rival groups. Analysts say the killing could influence voting behaviour in the region, turning sympathy towards Jansuraj. The shadow of violence has overshadowed the campaign promises.
The atmosphere in Mokama Tal remains tense as villagers are scared of further attacks. Supporters of Dularchand are mourning while others are worried about safety during elections. The incident has triggered fear of repeat clashes in the days ahead. Voters now question whether they can step out without risking their lives. Families of victims are demanding justice and heavy police presence in the region. The Election Commission is also expected to take note of the violence. Such incidents make free and fair polls difficult in rural Bihar.
Police have started identifying suspects involved in the clash and raids are being conducted at possible hideouts. Statements from eyewitnesses are being recorded to piece together the sequence of events. The administration has assured that culprits will be arrested soon. But locals remain sceptical, citing past cases where justice was delayed. Political parties meanwhile are trading blame, accusing rivals of orchestrating the attack. The murder of Dularchand Yadav has turned into a burning election issue. Mokama Tal now waits for answers and justice as Bihar heads deeper into polls.
