Monsoon Fury: 14 Killed, 8 Injured in Lightning Strikes In Jharkhand (X)
Ranchi: A major tragedy struck Jharkhand on Tuesday in separate incidents of lightning. Fourteen people have been reported dead in the past 24 hours due to lightning strikes in different parts of Jharkhand on Tuesday, the police reported.
According to Khorimahua SDPO Amarendra Kumar, at least seven people lost their lives and three other persons got injured in different police stations within his subdivision in the Giridih district. "Five people lost their lives in the Deori police station area, however, three other persons were injured, while one person was killed each in Gawan and Naudiha police station jurisdiction," he added.
A total of 14 people were killed and four others injured in the Giridih, Dumka, and Latehar districts. According to police, the highest number of deaths, nine, occurred in Giridih district.
Three people died and four other people, including a child, got injured in different lightning incidents in Ramgarh and Hansdiha police stations of Dumka district. Two people died in Latehar, while a woman was seriously injured in different incidents of lightning strikes in various police stations in Latehar, the police informed PTI.

Latehar Superintendent of Police Kumar Gaurav informed about two people dying in Chandwa and Sadar Police Station areas.
Two people have died in separate incidents in the Chandwa and Sadar police station areas of Latehar district. Latehar Superintendent of Police Kumar Gaurav said that a woman was seriously injured in these incidents. Police have initiated necessary action in all cases. The administration is monitoring the situation following these incidents in various police station areas.
