Monsoon Kab Aaoge? Know when rain spells are expected in your state

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the monsoon will arrive early this year due to an increase in heatwaves across the nation. The most recent report indicates that a wet spell is expected to persist in isolated areas along the southern peninsula of India through May 22. On the other hand, Kerala will experience exceptionally high rainfall across Tamil Nadu from May 16 to May 20.

A red alert has been issued for several parts of the state.

The South-West Monsoon will arrive in Andaman and Nicobar early. The monsoon is expected to arrive in Andaman Nicobar on May 19, according to the IMD forecast. Subsequently, the monsoon will advance to other regions of the nation. The monsoon typically reaches Andaman and Nicobar by May 22, but this year it might arrive three days early.

According to the Meteorological Department, the El Nino system is weakening in the country and La Nina conditions are becoming active, which is favorable for a good monsoon this year. For this reason, monsoons may arrive in India before time. At the same time, along with La Nina, Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) conditions are also becoming favorable for a good monsoon this year, which are positive signs for the monsoon.

Apart from this, Isolated but very heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during May 17-19; Kerala and Mahe will get rainfall on May 18-19, and South Interior Karnataka during May 18-20, for which the weather department has issued 'Orange' alert.

More rain is expected this year

There is a possibility of more than normal rainfall in India, this year. Even at the beginning of this month, IMD had predicted more than normal rainfall in May. Thunderstorms and rain will continue in the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala for the next two days.

When will the monsoon hit different states?

Subsequently, it proceeds to Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Bihar on June 15. On June 20, however, it affects the central regions of MP, UP, and Gujarat's heartland. The Meteorological Department has not yet provided a date for the monsoon's arrival in these states, nevertheless.
