Mumbai: A serious train accident occurred in Mumbai on Thursday evening. Four people were hit by a local train near Sandhurst Road railway station. Of these, three passengers died, while one person is still admitted in a critical condition in the hospital. Information about the accident was received around 7 pm, after which the Railway Department and police immediately started relief work.

How did the accident happen?

The incident occurred near pole number 2/418 of Sandhurst Road station. It is being said that motormen suddenly went on strike at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), due to which there was chaos at the station. Many passengers got down on the tracks, and during this time a high-speed local train reached there, due to which four people were hit by it.

The people present at the spot and the railway employees immediately picked up the injured and J.J. and took them to the hospital. After examination in the hospital, two passengers were declared dead. The third passenger died during treatment. The condition of the fourth person is still said to be critical, and the team of doctors is continuously monitoring him.

What is the hospital information?

J.J., chief medical officer of the hospital, Dr. Shweta said that a total of four passengers were admitted. Three have died, and one patient is in critical condition. According to the hospital administration, every possible effort is being made to save the patient.

Has the investigation started?

After the accident, the railway administration is investigating every aspect. Senior officials reached the spot and inspected the tracks. Efforts are being made to find out under what circumstances the passengers came on the tracks and why the security arrangements failed.

Another big question is that when the motormen on CSMT went on strike without permission, when will action be taken against it? Many passenger organizations have sought answers from the railways. Sources say that the tension between Central Railway and Railway Police after the recent FIR registered in the Mumbra accident could also be the background of this incident.

Who has been entrusted with the investigation?

The investigation of this case has been handed over to an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Lohmarg Police. The administration says that every reason behind the entire incident will be investigated, and if negligence is found, action will be taken against the people concerned.
