Nainital: Newly appointed Governor of Bihar, Lt General (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain was educated at Sherwood College in Nainital. He passed his 12th grade from Sherwood College in 1966. Upon his appointment as Governor, Principal Amandeep Sandhu of Sherwood College said that this significant achievement belongs not only to the school but also to the city.
There is no doubt that this school provided him with excellent knowledge and the ability to lay a strong foundation for leadership values. He continued to serve the country at every step, fulfilling the important role of former Military Secretary with exemplary responsibilities. Through his skillful leadership, he was successful in winning the trust of the people of Kashmir amidst the terrorist crisis.
He played a key role in implementing the people-centric policy of the Hearts Doctrine to enhance security. Outside the country, he served with distinction in the Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka. He can also be considered an expert in dealing with terrorist problems. Due to which he played an important role in restoring peace in Punjab during the period of militancy. Due to his efficient leadership and work efficiency, he held many important positions in the army. Due to his efficient working style, he was successful in getting the post of Governor of Bihar.
Lieutenant General Hasnain joined Sherwood College in the 1960s and passed the 12th examination (Senior Secondary) in 1966. He continued to demonstrate his skills by performing well in the sports activities held in the school. His Major General father Syed Mohammad Hasnain was also an officer in the Indian Army. His father played an important role in the formation of Garhwal Rifles.
