A moving bus caught fire on Yamuna Expressway (X)
A moving bus caught fire on Yamuna Expressway: This isn't the first case. Buses have caught fire on the Yamuna Expressway before—sometimes due to short circuits, sometimes due to engine failure. But this time, the firecrackers issue makes it even more dangerous. As Diwali approaches, the movement of firecrackers increases, and ignoring safety rules is proving fatal. Traffic police have issued an alert urging bus operators to strictly check luggage; otherwise, such accidents could occur daily.
The driver's bravery deserves praise. He not only stopped the bus but also helped passengers evacuate. An investigation is now underway—were the firecrackers illegal? Was there any lapse in the bus's maintenance? Dankaur police have filed a case, and the Yamuna Expressway Authority has announced increased safety checks.
An elderly passenger said over the phone, "The children were crying, and we all ran. The luggage burned, but if we survived, we should thank God." The driver, meanwhile, says, "I thought it was all over, but the training worked." Currently, passengers have been transported to Agra in alternate vehicles.
This accident reminds us to never overlook safety in pursuit of speed. Diwali is a joy to celebrate, but not without risk. If you are traveling on the expressway, always keep the emergency number 112 saved.
