PM Modi in Pariksha Pe Charcha: 'Not having a dream is a crime, have a dream always' (x)
New Delhi: During the 9th edition of 'Pariksha Pe Charcha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday interacted with the students and said that "education is meant for holistic life development and not merely scoring marks in examinations."
As examinations approach every year, PM Modi interacts with select "exam warriors" to help students remain stress-free.
This year too, the Prime Minister interacted with the students from Devmogra in Gujarat, Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, Raipur in Chhattisgarh and Guwahati in Assam.
While interacting with the students, PM Modi emphasized that life is not just about exams and education is just a medium of development.
"I don't look back at what has passed, I always look at what is to come... There are times when teachers only teach what is important and can help you score good marks, but a good teacher focuses on all-around development and teaches everything... Life is not just about exams. Education is just a medium of our development... Exams should never be the ultimate goal. The ultimate goal is all-around development," PM Modi said.

In alignment with NEP 2020, the Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026 edition focused on helping students remain stress-free during examinations and encouraging a stronger emphasis on learning.
While talking to the students, PM Modi said that there should be a balance in all aspects of life and also warned that leaning too far to one side could lead to a fall.
"Education should not feel like a burden. It needs our total involvement. Education in bits and pieces does not ensure success... Instead of focusing on marks, everyone should focus on where they have made it in life," PM Modi said.
"There should be a balance in everything in life. If you lean too much to one side, you will surely fall," he added.
During the interaction, PM Modi shared a key mantra for students, saying that dreams won't come true if you stay in your comfort zone.
"Not dreaming is a crime. One should definitely dream, but merely humming about dreams never works. Therefore, one should consider action as paramount in life," he said.
The Prime Minister will explaining about skills said that there are two types of skills, life skills and professional skills.
"There are two types of skills - life skills and professional skills. If someone asks me which one to focus on, I would say focus on both. They go hand in hand. Can any skill be acquired without studying, observing and applying knowledge? The beginning of skill is with knowledge; its importance cannot be underestimated," he said.
During the interaction, PM Modi that good teachers focus on all-around development rather than only teaching what helps score marks.
"There are times when teachers only teach what is important for exams, but a good teacher teaches everything and focuses on overall growth," he added.
