National News: Jyoti Singh, wife of Bhojpuri film star and BJP leader Pawan Singh, will be contesting in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, confirmed her father, Rambabu Singh, on Sunday, October 12.

Jyoti Singh’s Decision to Enter Politics

Speaking to reporters at his residence, Rambabu Singh said that Jyoti’s decision to fight the Assembly elections in Bihar is final. However, the details about which constituency she will contest from and under which party she will run are yet to be confirmed. “Jyoti Singh will contest the Assembly elections in Bihar. The seat and the party whether she will contest as an independent or under any party—will be announced soon,” he said. He also mentioned that people from the Karakat area in Rohtas district are urging her to contest from there.

Public Support and Connection with Karakat

Rambabu Singh added that people of Karakat have developed a close bond with Jyoti after she campaigned there for her husband Pawan Singh during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Bihar Assembly, which has 243 seats, will go to polls in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 14.

Family Dispute Comes to Light

The announcement comes at a time when there are reports of personal conflict in the family. Rambabu Singh has accused Pawan Singh of “cruelty” and “dishonesty,” claiming that the actor-singer rejected all efforts to mend his marriage with Jyoti. “I pleaded with him to accept my daughter, but he only referred to the court. Until the divorce is legally finalized, Jyoti has every right to stay with her husband,” Rambabu said. He added that during their last meeting three months ago, Pawan Singh told him that the issue would now be resolved in court.

Talks of Political Alliance

Recently, speculation in political circles has increased after Jyoti Singh met Jan Suraaj Party leader and poll strategist Prashant Kishor, raising discussions about a possible political partnership. The Jan Suraaj Party has already announced candidates for 51 seats in the upcoming Bihar elections.
Although no official statement has been made about Jyoti’s party or her constituency, many political experts believe her entry could bring significant attention to the elections because of her association with one of Bhojpuri cinema’s biggest stars.
