This visit of the Prime Minister has taken place at a time when the Central Government had announced the end of Naxalism from the country by 31 March 2026. Along with running security operations in Naxal-affected areas, the government also laid emphasis on development works. Central and state security forces worked together in this operation.
In this, CRPF, Cobra Battalion, District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Chhattisgarh Police and Special Task Force (STF) played an important role. Intelligence, drones, satellite imagery and modern surveillance techniques were used during the operation.
Many major security operations were conducted to curb Naxal activities. Among these, Operation Black Forest was also considered important. Under this, security forces took action against Naxalite activities. New police stations, security camps and helipads were built in the affected areas. Better equipment and facilities were also provided to the soldiers.
The government also encouraged the Naxalites to surrender with security operations. For this, financial assistance and rehabilitation schemes were started. Emphasis was laid on providing facilities related to education, skill development, housing and employment to those who surrendered. Its objective was to connect the people who had given up their arms to the mainstream of society.
To connect the remote areas of Bastar with development, work was done on road construction, mobile towers and digital connectivity. Apart from this, efforts were made to improve people's access to banking facilities, schools and hospitals.
Attention was also given to recruiting local youth into the security forces. The participation of Bastaria battalion and youth of districts like Bijapur, Sukma and Dantewada was considered important in this direction. PM Modi celebrating Diwali with soldiers underlines the contribution of security forces in Bastar and efforts for peace and development in the region.
