New Delhi: Due to dense fog, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flight scheduled to depart on his three-nation tour was delayed on Monday morning. PM Modi's flight was scheduled to take off at 8:30 am, but due to very low visibility in Delhi, he was able to board the plane at around 9:30 am. Air operations were affected for some time due to bad weather.
In his statement issued before leaving, Prime Minister Modi said that he will first go to Jordan. This visit is taking place at the invitation of Jordan's King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein. The Prime Minister said that this visit is taking place on the occasion of the completion of 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan, which is being considered historic for the relations between the two countries.
Delhi remained in the grip of dense fog on Monday morning. Visibility reached almost zero in many areas, due to which the traffic speed slowed down significantly in the morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert regarding fog and advised people to exercise caution. The temperature dropped to 12 degrees Celsius in the morning.
The effect of dense fog was also seen at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). This is believed to be the first major impact of fog in the capital this season. Many flights had to take off late due to security reasons. Airlines changed the schedule to ensure the safety of passengers.
In the advisory issued by Delhi Airport, it was said that there may be temporary disruption in flights due to fog. Passengers were appealed to contact the concerned airline for latest information about their flight. The airport administration also expressed regret for the inconvenience.
Prime Minister Modi will first go to Jordan, where he will meet King Abdullah II and Prime Minister Jafar Hassan. Bilateral relations and regional issues between the two countries are expected to be discussed in detail.
After this the Prime Minister will go to Ethiopia. There he will address the joint session of Parliament and share India's vision on strengthening India-Ethiopia relations as well as the Global South. PM Modi will also meet Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and interact with the Indian community living there.
The Prime Minister will reach Oman in the last leg of the visit. This visit is taking place on the occasion of 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Oman. This is being considered important towards further strengthening the long and trustworthy relations between the two countries.
