PM Modi’s Gujarat Visit: Projects Worth Over Rs 6,000 Crore From Semiconductor To Railways

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a one-day visit to Gujarat on March 31. During this, he inaugurated the Jain Museum at Koba village in Gandhinagar.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a one-day visit to Gujarat on March 31. During this, he inaugurated the Jain Museum at Koba village in Gandhinagar, dedicated to the nation the country's first semiconductor assembly plant at Sanand; and, while addressing a public meeting in Lakhni taluka of the newly formed Vav-Tharad district, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development, railway and urban projects worth thousands of crores.

On the day of Mahavir Janam Kalyanak, this tour was also special because both modern technology and ancient faith were at the center together.

What new initiative was taken for the preservation of Jain heritage?

The Samrat Samprati Museum built at Koba Tirtha in Gandhinagar was inaugurated on the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Janam Kalyanak. This museum is dedicated to Emperor Samprati Maharaj (224-215 BC), who was the grandson of Emperor Ashoka and a great propagator of Jainism. This museum has been built with the support of UNM Foundation of Torrent Group and the responsibility of its operation also rests with this foundation. The National Museum displays documents, manuscripts, inscriptions, sculptures, brass reliquaries and religious paintings related to the spiritual journey of Acharya Padma Sagar Surishwarji Maharaj.

Is Sanand really becoming India's first chip cluster?

The prime minister dedicates Keynes Semicon's OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facility at Sanand. The project was approved by the Union Cabinet on September 23, 2024, under the 'Semiconductor India Programme' with an investment of Rs 3,300 crore. Modi said Sanand, once known as an automobile hub, is now emerging as India's first chip packaging cluster. Along with Micron Technology and Kayans Semicon, CG Semi's plant is also being established here.

Railways get Rs 891 crore—which areas will benefit?

The Prime Minister virtually inaugurated railway projects worth Rs 891 crore. The most prominent among these is the 55 km long Himmatnagar-Khedbrahma new railway line, which has been built at a cost of Rs 482 crore.  This will strengthen Sabarkantha district's connectivity with Ahmedabad and Udaipur, ease access to health and education services, and open new avenues of livelihood for local communities.

Why did Ahmedabad get the largest share in urban development?

Out of 44 urban projects, 32 projects are of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, with a total cost of Rs 4,640.12 crore. These include Rs 1,061.43 crore for Kharikat Canal Phase-2, Rs 467 crore for ITMS System 2.0 for BRTS and AMTS and Rs 255.35 crore for 14 km road development from Narol Circle to Naroda Patiya. Seven projects of Gandhinagar Municipality Corporation will be completed for Rs 304.82 crore

Did Vadnagar and Patan also get any special gift?

The Rs 34.45 crore 'Heritage Town and Road Beautification Project' was inaugurated in the prime minister's hometown, Vadnagar. This includes upgraded road infrastructure, underground lighting, sandstone signage and beautification works around key sites such as Hatkeshwar Temple and Music Museum. An 898-meter-long three-bay railway overbridge built at a cost of Rs 43.29 crore was opened in Patan, which will provide relief to about two lakh residents from traffic jams.
