PM Modi to Launch ₹35,440 Crore Agriculture Schemes Today, Transforming Millions of Farmers’ Lives

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch two big schemes for the agriculture sector today. These include PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana and the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission.

PM Modi to Launch ₹35,440 Crore Agriculture Schemes Today: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch two big schemes for the agriculture sector today. These include PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana and the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission. The Prime Minister's Office said that the program will be organized at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), in which PM Modi will also interact with farmers.

PM Modi wrote on Twitter that the agriculture and rural areas of the country are going to witness a new chapter today. Both the schemes will be launched in New Delhi at around 10:30 am. These schemes will help in increasing yields and intensifying production of pulses in 100 low-yielding districts.

PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana

The total cost of this scheme is ₹24,000 crore. It aims to:

  • Increase agricultural productivity
  • Adopt crop diversification and sustainable agricultural practices
  • Increase post-harvest storage facilities at the Panchayat and Block levels
  • Improving irrigation facilities
  • Facilitate availability of short-term and long-term credit in 100 selected districts
  • Pulses Self-Reliance Mission
  • This mission has a cost of ₹11,440 crore and aims to:
  • Increase pulse productivity
  • Expand pulse cultivation area
  • Strengthen the value chain (procurement, storage, processing)
  • Reduce losses

Other Projects and Initiatives

PM Modi will inaugurate projects worth over Rs 5,450 crore in agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing sectors and lay the foundation stone of new projects worth about Rs 815 crore. These include:

  • Artificial Insemination Training Centers in Bengaluru and Jammu and Kashmir
  • IVF Laboratory in Assam (under the National Gokul Mission)
  • Milk Powder Plants in Mehsana, Indore, and Bhilwara
  • Fish Feed Plant under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana in Tezpur
  • New Prosperity in Farmers' Lives

During the program, PM Modi will distribute certificates to farmers certified under the National Natural Farming Mission, MAITRI technicians, and Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) converted into PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSK) and Common Service Centers (CSC). PM Modi will also interact with farmers engaged in pulse cultivation, who have benefited from government schemes in agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries.
