Victoria: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was presented with a ceremonial guard of honour at State House in Victoria on Sunday during his three-day state visit to Seychelles. Seychelles President Patrick Herminie was also present.

Where was PM Modi honoured?

PM Narendra Modi was given a grand state welcome in Victoria, the capital of Seychelles. He was given a ceremonial guard of honor at State House, where Seychelles President Patrick Herminie was also present. The Prime Minister arrived to attend Seychelles' Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations as the chief guest.

PM Modi's visit to Seychelles, which began on June 27, will continue until June 29. The visit aims to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral relations between India and Seychelles. The Prime Minister was formally welcomed by President Herminie at State House, and both leaders attended official ceremonies.

PM Modi will attend Seychelles' Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations as the chief guest, marking 50 years since independence from Britain in 1976.

When did PM Modi arrive in Seychelles?

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Victoria, the capital of Seychelles, on Saturday afternoon, where President Herminie, along with several senior ministers and officials, warmly welcomed him at the airport. The welcome ceremony also included a traditional folk dance performance from the Kutch region of Gujarat. PM Modi praised the Indian diaspora, calling it an example of "global connectivity."

What happen on Saturday event?

On Saturday, Prime Minister Modi and President Herminie arrived in the same car at the Seychelles National Botanical Garden. During the visit, Prime Minister Modi presented the Indian-built Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) PS LESPWAR, six ambulances, 10 utility vehicles, and five laser radial boats to Seychelles. These will strengthen Seychelles' maritime surveillance and patrol capabilities in its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

This specialised maritime vessel was built by Goa Shipyard Ltd. The handover ceremony was held at the Seychelles Coast Guard Base in Victoria in the presence of President Herminie.

The Ministry of External Affairs said on the social media platform X that this Indian-built fast patrol vessel will play a vital role in strengthening Seychelles' maritime security and EEZ surveillance capabilities.
