New Delhi: Amid the attacks by Iran on the UAE, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by phone with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Prime Minister Modi himself shared details of this conversation on the social media platform X. In his post, PM Modi wrote that India strongly condemns these attacks on the UAE and expresses deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in these attacks.

He further stated that India stands in full solidarity with the UAE in these difficult circumstances. During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi thanked the UAE President for the efforts taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the Indian community living in the UAE. He also stated that India supports de-escalation and regional peace, security, and stability.

What did PM Modi write on social media?

On social media X, PM Modi wrote, "I spoke with the President of the UAE, my brother Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. I strongly condemn the attacks on the UAE and express my condolences to those who lost their lives in these attacks." India stands in solidarity with the UAE in these difficult times. I thanked them for taking care of the Indian community living in the UAE. We support de-escalation and regional peace, security, and stability.

According to information shared by the UAE, an Indian national was among 58 people who were slightly injured in the Iranian military attacks targeting it. The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi said it was aware of the Indian national's injuries and was in contact with hospital authorities. The mission stated on social media that the Indian national was out of danger. We are providing all possible assistance. The UAE Ministry of Defense said that three people were killed and 58 were slightly injured in the Iranian attacks.

What has Iran done?

Following the US and Israel's attack on Iran on Saturday, Iran has carried out attacks targeting Israeli and US military bases in several Gulf countries. Iran's retaliation intensified after Tehran announced the death of the country's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in Israeli-US attacks early Sunday.

The UAE's Defense Ministry stated that its military has faced 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles, and 541 drone attacks since the start of the Iranian offensive. It stated that of the 541 Iranian drones, 506 were intercepted and destroyed, while 35 fell within the country, causing material damage.

It said these incidents resulted in the deaths of three people among Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationals and minor injuries to 58 people among Emirati, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese and Afghan nationals.
