Punjab News: Punjab’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian confirmed that the government stands fully committed to helping people recover from the flood damage. He said Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has instructed that no family should be left without help. Relief camps are already functioning in several regions, and more support is being pushed rapidly. The aim is to ensure immediate food, shelter, and medicine for affected households.
According to officials, ₹71 crore has been sanctioned as emergency aid. In the first phase, ₹35.50 crore had already been released to all districts. Now, an additional ₹35.50 crore has been approved especially for the 12 most affected districts. This two-step approach ensures that money reaches where it is needed the most.
Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Verma shared details of how funds have been divided. Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Tarn Taran are among districts receiving ₹5 crore each. Smaller but affected districts such as Barnala, Malerkotla, and Fatehgarh Sahib will get ₹1 crore. The allocations reflect the severity of the damage in each area.
Minister Mundian stressed that farmers have suffered the worst impact as standing crops were destroyed by floods. The government is ensuring not only cash compensation but also seeds and farming assistance for the next season. This step is vital to prevent rural families from slipping into deeper poverty. Agricultural recovery is being treated as a top priority.
Beyond food and shelter, the government is also planning housing repairs and rebuilding schools, health centers, and roads damaged by floodwaters. Relief is not just temporary but part of a longer rehabilitation plan. Officials said this effort will help restore normal life in rural as well as urban flood-hit zones.
The government’s fast decision to release funds is being seen as a sign of political will. Normally such financial approvals take time, but here the urgency has been respected. Citizens are hopeful that this relief will reach them quickly without corruption or delay. Transparency and speed are being promised by the administration.
Flood-hit families across Punjab now look towards the government with expectation. Many villagers said timely support will decide whether they can survive this disaster without selling land or property. If promises are kept, the relief will restore trust between people and the administration. Punjab has a history of resilience, and this plan may strengthen that spirit once again.
