In a shocking turn of events, Delhi Police arrested a 25-year-old former domestic worker, Abhay Sikarwar, for the murder of a 64-year-old businessman, Rohit Kumar, in South Delhi’s Panchsheel Park. Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankit Chauhan revealed that the accused, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, had entered the victim's home intending to rob him. His motive stemmed from financial desperation, as he needed funds to support a comfortable lifestyle with his girlfriend.

Sikarwar, who was currently working as a cook in Moti Nagar, was apprehended after a meticulous investigation involving over 500 CCTV footages. The technical surveillance team tracked him down, piecing together his movements leading to his capture.

Planned robbery turns tragic

During police interrogation, Sikarwar confessed that he had previously worked at Kumar’s residence as a domestic helper about four years ago. His familiarity with the house and knowledge that the elderly businessman lived alone emboldened his plan to rob the home. On the fateful night, Sikarwar broke into the house, intending to steal valuables. However, Kumar awoke and confronted him, leading to a violent altercation.

The crime unfolds

Caught in the act, Sikarwar panicked when Kumar resisted and tried to raise an alarm. In the ensuing struggle, he grabbed a nearby knife and attacked Kumar multiple times. The elderly man succumbed to his injuries, and the terrified accused fled the scene, leaving behind the stolen items.

Desperation and motive

The accused confessed that he was under financial stress due to mounting debts and aspired to rent a luxurious apartment for himself and his girlfriend. This desperation drove him to execute the ill-fated robbery, which ended in tragedy.
