Delhi: India's Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has clarified in an interview to an international channel that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was completely a part of India's independent policy. He said that no third party like America or Pakistan had any role in this decision. This statement refutes the claims made recently by  US President Donald Trump.

 America's role rejected

In an interview given to Dutch channel NOS, Jaishankar completely rejected Trump's statement in which he claimed that he had reduced tensions between India and Pakistan through trade talks. Jaishankar said, "We chose the path of ceasefire through direct talks with Pakistan without the mediation of any third country. America or anyone else had no role."

Pahalgam attack: An example of religious terrorism

Jaishankar directly attacked Pakistan while referring to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. He said, "This attack was deliberately carried out by targeting Hindu pilgrims and tourists. Its aim was to spread religious frenzy and create unrest in the country." He also said that such attacks clearly show that terrorism is deeply rooted in Pakistan's thinking and policy.

Pak Army Chief described as inspired by radicalism

India's Foreign Minister also targeted Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir. He said that Munir's thinking is full of religious fanaticism and many of his public statements reveal this. "This radical thinking is part of Pakistan's policy of supporting terrorism," Jaishankar said. Jaishankar made it clear that India showed strategic wisdom in a serious decision like ceasefire and did not accept any external interference. "We were definitely in touch with the US and other countries, but the decision was entirely India's," he said. This statement is a sign of India's independent foreign policy and diplomatic maturity.

Role of ‘third party’ not in India’s policy: Jaishankar

The foreign minister finally reiterated India’s traditional policy that any issue between India and Pakistan can be resolved only through bilateral talks. “India’s policy has always been clear – we do not accept any third party mediation,” he added.
