Arunachal Pradesh: A group of tourists had a hair-raising experience at the scenic winter destination Sela Pass in Arunachal Pradesh. The ice at a frozen lake suddenly gave in under them there. The incident highlights the risks that go with winter tourism in a region known for breathtaking vistas when the region was covered in deep snow.
The tourists walked over the frozen lake without knowing the surface was fragile. A sudden collapse caused them to plunge into the freezing waters below. Immediate action by bystanders armed with bamboo sticks helped rescue the tourists, averting what could have been a tragic disaster.
A viral video of the incident captures the alarming moment when four people, including two women, struggled in icy waters. The footage also captures the coordinated efforts of rescuers who managed to save each individual one by one.

The accident has brought up issues concerning the dangers of winter tourism in frozen and icy lands. Authorities have asked tourists to follow safety tips and not engage in reckless behavior, such as walking on ice lakes without professional guidance. The video has also made people think about prioritizing safety over making a viral video.
Although Sela Pass is always a popular tourist destination for its snow-clad landscapes, an incident like this reminds everyone that it is fraught with danger. It is, therefore, better to travel there with experienced guides who are alert about the weather, well-equipped in warm clothing, and safety gears to make travel safe and enjoyable.
