National News: A landslide occurred in Upper Rimbi of the Yangthang constituency in West Sikkim on Monday midnight. According to the local administration, four people died and three are missing in this accident. A video of the incident has also surfaced, which shows the horrific condition of the area trapped in the debris.
Three people died on the spot due to the landslide. Local police and SSB jawans immediately started relief work with the help of villagers. Two injured women were rescued by building a temporary bridge of wood on the flooded Hume River.
SP Gejing Tshering Sherpa said that the injured were immediately admitted to the hospital. One woman died during treatment, while the condition of the other woman remains critical. The administration confirmed that three people are still missing and search operations are on.

The local administration has deployed SDRF and police teams in the affected area. They have intensified the work of removing debris and searching for missing people as well as making safe routes in the area. The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning to the local people to remain alert in view of the danger of landslides and heavy rains.
Local people are also active in relief work. Many houses, roads, and agricultural fields have been affected by the landslide. The administration has provided temporary shelter and necessary relief material for the affected families.
The relief team worked overnight to remove debris and make safe routes. Officials said that as soon as the weather clears, they will continue search and rescue operations more effectively. The local administration has urged residents not to go to danger areas and follow the instructions of the authorities.
