Three terrorists were killed on Monday during a massive encounter between Indian Army personnel and suspected Pahalgam terrorists in Srinagar. The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army confirmed the update on social media platform X, saying, “Three terrorists have been neutralised in an intense firefight. Operation continues.”
Along with the Indian Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police are also part of the ongoing Operation Mahadev. According to the latest information, security forces spotted the movement of foreign terrorists in the higher areas of Dachigam Forest, located in Harwan, Srinagar. Reports say that a group of nomads gave the key tip-off that helped the forces act quickly.
According to CNN-News18, the dead bodies of the terrorists are being brought back from the encounter site. Though no official statement has confirmed their connection to the recent Baisaran Valley attack, sources claim these terrorists may have been part of major attacks on Indian soil. Defence sources told the media that the encounter started around 11 a.m. Drones have been deployed in the area to keep watch. Photos taken by the drones will be shown to jailed terrorists to help identify the ones killed as part of the ongoing investigation. Operation Mahadev is still in progress, and the area remains under strict security control.
