The Supreme Court is set to hear a petition filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust president, YV Subba Reddy, on Monday, 30 September. The petition addresses serious allegations regarding the mixing of animal fat in the prasad offered at the revered Tirupati temple.

Swamy demands investigation into allegations

Subramanian Swamy has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking an inquiry into claims made by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. The Chief Minister has accused temple authorities of mixing animal meat and other harmful substances into the sacred laddoos, raising widespread concern among devotees.

Call for independent probe

According to the sources, YV Subba Reddy, a Rajya Sabha MP and former head of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust, has echoed these concerns. In his petition, he has called for the formation of an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by a retired Supreme Court judge to look into the allegations. The petition emphasizes the need for an impartial probe to maintain the sanctity of one of India's holiest pilgrimage sites.

The court is expected to provide further clarity on the investigation after the hearing.
