Tamil Nadu: 10-year old Girl Sexually Assaulted in Tiruvallur District

Ntional News: Tamil Nadu's opposition claimed on Thursday that a 10-year-old girl was sexually molested while returning home from school in Tiruvallur district, with police reporting the crime occurred five days ago near Gummidipoondi. A video circulated on Thursday showed a man in his mid-20s coming behind a girl who was alone on the road and then abducting her, authorities said. Police said the girl later informed her grandma about the event, adding that they started an investigation to find and arrest the guilty.

Girl undergoing treatment

The girl was first admitted to a hospital and then sent to a government facility for further care. Following a complaint from her family, the police opened a case under several provisions of the BNS and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. The opposition slammed Chief Minister MK Stalin for poor peace and order in the state.

MK Stalin criticised

Kovai Sathyan, AIADMK spokesperson, said that the girl is undergoing treatment at Stanley Government Hospital in Chennai. “A 4th standard kid gets kidnapped in broad daylight after school. She was raped and is presently undergoing treatment at Stanley Government Hospital in Chennai,” said AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan.

He emphasised that the criminals are roaming freely outdoors, hinting towards the dangerous society we are living in. “The fact that such criminals who commit sexual crimes without paying any attention to the girl are roaming freely shows how dangerous the society is,” said former state BJP chief K. Annamalai in a post on X.
