Senior MDMK leader A Ganeshamurthi, the sitting MP from Erode, passed away on Thursday, March 28, from cardiac arrest, a few days after being treated for an alleged suicide attempt.

Ganeshamurthi, 77, reportedly complained of discomfort after attempting suicide, and on March 24 he was admitted to a hospital in Erode in a severe condition. He was admitted to hospital with ICU support but could not be saved.

Soon after getting the information, several ministers rushed to the hospital to enquire about his health.
He was elected to Erode under DMK’s name, has held various responsibilities in the Vaiko-led MDMK, an alliance partner of the ruling party.
