National News: A 16-year-old teenager was detained on Monday for reportedly murdering a seven-year-old child, whose body was discovered with multiple stab wounds along the green belt along the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Motorway in Kalwadi village, according to Bilaspur police officials. According to authorities, the young suspect allegedly killed the child with a pair of scissors on Saturday evening, holding a grudge against him for exposing a mobile phone theft two months earlier, which forced the accused to apologise to the victim's father.

The victim was stabbed 18-20 times

During preliminary questioning, the suspect admitted to bringing Ashish (the victim) to an isolated area and stabbing him 18-20 times before fleeing. He was hunted down and caught late Sunday evening in Kalwadi village, Nuh district. “The suspect has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. He will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, and further investigation is underway,” said Sandeep Kumar, Gurugram police spokesperson.

The body was lying near expressway

According to authorities, the victim, Ashish Kumar, was discovered on Sunday after police received a tip about a child's body along the highway. A forensic team, fingerprint experts, and a duty magistrate were dispatched to the scene to gather evidence. A blood-stained pair of scissors, thought to have been used in the murder, was discovered at the scene. The body was transported to Gurugram Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.

Injuries sustained on the chest and forehead

In his police complaint, the victim's father, who lives with his family on rent in Fatehpur village, stated that both he and his wife work for a delivery company in Pathredi. On the evening of July 19, his wife arrived home about 7 p.m. and assumed Ashish was playing with friends. Later, the father departed for work at 8 p.m. On July 20, while going home, he heard about a child's death discovered near the Kalwadi bus stop. Upon arriving at the scene, he identified the body as his son's. The young child suffered visible stab wounds to his chest and forehead.

What triggered the murder?

The father told authorities that about two months ago, a cell phone went missing from their home. Ashish had told him that the phone was with a boy in the surroundings. He confronted the youngster and took the phone, after which Ashish and his father demanded thatapologise. According to investigators, the boy's embarrassment from this experience encouraged him to plan the murder.
