Lalu Prasad Yadav's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav's love affair has not only shaken his own family but has now spread to another political party - the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP).
The story begins with a Facebook post by Tej Pratap Yadav, in which he described himself as being in a "12-year relationship" with Anushka Yadav. There was also a photo, which seemed to break the silence. What followed was nothing less than a love-politics novel - a viral video, family feuds, and finally Tej Pratap's expulsion from his party, RJD, and then from the Lalu family.
But this time the impact did not stop there. Anushka Yadav's brother and RLSP's national president of the student wing, Akash Yadav, openly supported Tej Pratap. He commented on RJD chief Lalu Yadav and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav - and this is where the story took a turn.
The RLJP leadership could not tolerate that the national president of their student wing jumped into the family matter of another party like this. On the instructions of the party's national president, Pashupati Kumar Paras, RLJP general secretary Elvis Joseph issued a letter on Thursday in which Akash Yadav was removed from his post and expelled from the party for six years.
The letter said that this decision has been taken from the point of view of the current political circumstances and protecting the party's image.
Tej Pratap Yadav's love is no longer personal but has become a political explosion on a public platform. Supporting Akash Yadav proved costly for him, but the question remains — has such influence of personal relationships become normal in Bihar politics?
