Incidents of mishandling online food orders are becoming increasingly common, particularly when vegetarian customers receive non-vegetarian items. A recent case from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, has emerged where a vegetarian man ordered a paneer roll but allegedly received an egg roll instead. The man, identified as a temple worker, has filed a complaint at the local police station, claiming that the mix-up was a deliberate attempt to "corrupt his religious beliefs."

The incident took place on the night of October 2nd. Nitish, a resident of Delhi Road Vishnu Enclave, who was visiting his in-laws in TP Nagar, ordered a paneer roll online from a local eatery named "Bap of Roll," located near Begumpur GIC. Upon receiving the order, Nitish took a bite without checking, only to realize the roll tasted like egg instead of paneer.

Outraged, Nitish immediately went to the shop to confront the staff. However, the shopkeeper reportedly refused to acknowledge the mistake and, according to Nitish, even threatened him. The incident soon escalated into a public dispute, with a video of the altercation going viral.

Allegations of religious insensitivity

The video also shows Nitish's companions accusing the shop workers of being Muslim and suggesting that the mix-up may have been intentional. They further alleged that the shop uses the same cooking utensils for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, which they claimed was unacceptable. Nitish has since filed a formal complaint with the police, accusing the shop of hurting religious sentiments and delivering the wrong food item.

The police have confirmed that they received the complaint and are currently investigating the matter.
