New Delhi: Major news has emerged from the Kinnar Akhara (Eunuch Akhara). Actress-turned-ascetic Mamta Kulkarni, also known as Yamai Mamta Giri, has been expelled from the Kinnar Akhara. This action was taken following her controversial statement regarding Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand. The decision was announced by Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi of the Kinnar Akhara.

“Who even made him the Supreme Shankaracharya? Because of this man and his ego, clashes happened, so I won’t call him a Shankaracharya. The real Shankaracharya was in the 8th century, who established the four Peeths,” Mamta Kulkarni had told the media.

What is the issue?

Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi clearly stated that Yamai Mamta Giri now has no connection with the Kinnar Akhara. She said that the Akhara does not want any kind of controversy, and maintaining discipline and decorum is mandatory for all members. Mamta Kulkarni's recent statement created controversy at the religious and social levels, which is against the traditions and values of the Akhara.

Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati is protesting in the Magh Mela area against being prevented from going to the Sangam in a palanquin on the day of Mauni Amavasya. Many people are giving statements for and against this. In this matter, a statement was recently given by Mahamandaleshwar Yamai Mamtanand Giri alias Mamta Kulkarni of the Kinnar Akhara, in which she made a controversial statement about the Shankaracharya.

What did the Kinnar Akhara say on Mamta Kulkarni?

Following this, a video was released on Tuesday by Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Dr. Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi of the Kinnar Akhara, in which she said that she does not want to get involved in this controversy. She is initiated into Sri Vidya by Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati, and her guru in the monastic tradition is Mahant Harigiri, the General Secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad. There is some dispute going on between Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati and Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati. Some matter between them is pending in court. She is aware of this, but she does not want to comment on it. She had also come to the Magh Mela. Seeing the crowd, she took a bath in the Ganges. Everyone has their own beliefs. She said that it feels bad when traditions are questioned, which is why they distanced themselves from Mamta Kulkarni. She was unanimously expelled.
