At least 200 schools in the Delhi-NCR on Wednesday received an email alerting them to a bomb in their schools, causing panic among students, staff, and parents. This was an unprecedented circumstance. Soon parents hurried to pick up their children in response to signals from the schools, despite a large exercise being conducted by several authorities, including police, fire departments, bomb squads, and dog squads, to search the premises.

The bomb threat email was received by multiple schools in Delhi and Noida, including DPS Dwarka and Noida, Sanskriti School, Indian School, St Thomas School, and Amity School in Pushp Vihar.

Until 9 in the morning, about a dozen schools had gotten the mail; but, with time, the number increased to the point where almost all of the schools were closed for the day. When nothing was discovered at any school by midday, everyone was relieved, but the scope of the incident caused anxiety in parents and dominated discussions around the city.

Taking swift action in the case, the special cell has started the investigation tracing the sender. The Ministry of Home Affairs, Lieutenant Governor has asked for an urgent report on it. Reportedly, multiple investigation agencies, including the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and Cert-In have been roped into the probe.

Meanwhile, the preliminary investigations are indicating that the hoax call may have leading links to China and Pakistan’s ISI, who are likely to interrupt the common man's life.

Noteworthy here is that nothing objectionable has been found during the checks at the premises. Delhi Police also asked the people not to panic, as it appeared to be a hoax call at the initial level.

It is important to note that all the schools that received hoax calls are reopened for students on Thursday.
