WHAT next for Khajan Singh? Arjuna awardee CRPF DIG found guilty of sexually harassing colleagues

Arjuna Awardee Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Central Reserve Police Force Khajan Singh has been found guilty for harassing, insulting and even threatening the female colleagues sexually. According to the sources, after the recommendation from Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) for his dismissal has been approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs. A notice has been sent to Singh.

The CRPF's head sports officer, Khajan Singh, was suspended in 2021 but then brought back. The UPSC's recommendation to fire him was approved by MHA.

According to official sources, UPSC recommended the firing, the MHA approved it, and he received a notification terminating his employment. After a thorough investigation, he received a notice.

“He will, nevertheless, have a chance to reply and make his case. Within 15 days, the final orders would be issued after considering his response,” the sources said.

WHEN did this happen?

A CRPF wrestler accused him of sexually assaulting her and numerous other girls on the department's wrestling team in a complaint she submitted with the Delhi Police in December 2018. She claimed he improperly grabbed her and other girls while posing as a trainer, abusing his position as the male coach. She said that Singh was in charge of a "sex scandal" within the force, bullying, raping, and harassing women for a number of years.

Soon after that Delhi court acquitted him in a rape case in 2021, after which the woman claimed that she highlighted it in a ‘fit of anger’. She the retracted her claims while recording her statement with the magistrate.

Now WHAT?

According to the sources, the CRPF looked into several complaints against him and asked vigilance department to prepare a report that has been sent to UPSC and MHA to take necessary disciplinary action.

“CRPF took serious note of the complaints and constituted an Internal Complaints Committee headed by an Inspector General-level officer to conduct an inquiry. The decision has been taken based on merit and a detailed probe by the committee,” the source said.
