New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took aim at opposition parties over the failure to pass the Women's Reservation Bill. He remarked that these individuals were thumping their desks after the bill was defeated.

"That was not a thumping of the table; it was a blow to the dignity and self-respect of women," PM Modi said. He further stated that when the public observes them, they will say, "These are the very people who stripped women of their power."

I say this unequivocally to these parties: they are taking 'Nari Shakti' (women's power) for granted. In his address to the nation, Prime Minister Modi asserted that the opposition would undoubtedly face retribution for the sin they committed by opposing women's reservation. These parties have also insulted the sentiments of the framers of the Constitution. They will not be able to escape the punishment that the public will mete out to them," PM Modi added.

What did PM Narendra Modi say?

Earlier, PM Modi stated that the flight of India's 'Nari Shakti' has been grounded. Their dreams, he noted, have been ruthlessly crushed. He remarked that despite our utmost efforts, we were unable to succeed. When partisan interests take precedence over national interests, it is the nation's women who are forced to bear the brunt of the consequences. This is precisely what has happened this time as well. Taking aim at the opposition, PM Modi stated that the nation's women have had to suffer the fallout of the self-serving politics practiced by the Congress, DMK, TMC, and SP.

What did PM Modi say about the Congress?

PM Modi specifically targeted the Congress party. He asserted that the Congress and other opposition parties have committed "foeticide" against women's rights. He remarked that the Congress is surviving by riding on the backs of regional parties like a parasite. He stated that the Congress has squandered a historic opportunity to create history. He further alleged that the Congress has misled the nation—at times by resorting to falsehoods, and at other times by employing various other tactics. By engaging in such actions, he concluded, the Congress and its allies have exposed their true faces before the women of India.
