Islamabad: Pakistan, which has long harbored hostile intentions toward India, has suffered a major setback. Balochistan has declared itself an independent nation. An official statement circulating on social media declared independence under the name 'Republic of Balochistan.' The statement claims that the Balochistan army has secured control over 85 percent of the region. It also announces the implementation of a new national flag, national anthem, currency, and administrative system. Furthermore, the new government claims to have full control over the region's mineral resources, gas fields, and coal mines.

What did the Balochistan statement say?

The statement also claims that several officers from Pakistani security agencies have resigned to join the struggle for Balochistan's independence. It is worth noting that demands for separatism against Pakistan have been gaining momentum in Balochistan for a long time. Local residents have frequently staged large-scale protests, raising slogans against Army Chief Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. However, this declaration of independence has not yet been confirmed by any official source, nor has any major international organization or government recognized it as an independent nation.

What is the situation in Balochistan?

Meanwhile, the security situation in Balochistan is deteriorating. Ethnic Baloch insurgents and terrorists from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have intensified attacks on security forces. According to Pakistani defense officials, over 105 terrorists have been killed in the past week. Of these, 71 were eliminated during 'Operation Shaban,' which began on July 7. Operation Shaban is being conducted in the Shaban area of Quetta district as a joint effort by the Pakistan Army, the Frontier Corps (FC), and the Balochistan Police.
On July 5, 27 police personnel were killed in a terrorist attack on a police post at the Mangi Dam pumping station in the Shaban area. Following this attack, security forces launched a massive operation. Defense sources stated on Sunday that at least seven more terrorists were killed during the operation in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of terrorists killed in 'Operation Shaban' to 71. It is worth noting that Balochistan has been grappling with unrest for the past two decades, and a significant rise in violence has been observed in recent months.
