Pakistan battles open revolt in PoK as JAAC demands separate nation (Image X @ANI)
Islamabad: Public anger against Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir is mounting rapidly in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Sardar Aman Kashmiri, a key leader of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), emphatically reiterated the demand for a separate, independent nation while addressing a massive public gathering.
In a speech delivered just before the proposed 'Long March' to Muzaffarabad, Kashmiri clearly stated that the movement would continue at all costs and that the JAAC's core demand is "our own homeland."
Amidst the emotional atmosphere of the rally, he declared, "We want our own country. Every individual has the right to their own nation, government, and authority. Give us back our rights; we will no longer remain anyone's slaves."
The JAAC leader alleged that protesters are facing constant death threats. He claimed that bounties have been placed on the heads of several of his associates. "They are trying to intimidate us," Kashmiri said. "They say there is a price on our heads and that they won't spare us. But we have come here with our lives in our hands; we will not back down."
Highlighting the overwhelming public support for the movement, Aman Kashmiri noted that mothers, children, and future generations are standing in solidarity with the struggle. "We have the blessings of mothers and the hopes of children with us, and the future of coming generations is at stake," he said. "This is not just our struggle; it is the struggle of the entire PoK." He made special mention of the headbands worn by children at the rally, noting that the messages inscribed on them clearly reflect the movement's core demand for "our own homeland." He described the massive participation of families as the movement's greatest strength.
During the event, the JAAC leader also launched a scathing attack on mainstream political leaders in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He alleged that these leaders have completely failed to meet the people's expectations and, in collusion with the Pakistani military, are selling out the interests of the local population. Aman Kashmiri stated, "Struggle was not written in your destiny; sycophancy and the pursuit of power were. You have joined hands with the Pakistani army and betrayed your own people."
Acknowledging the contributions of various sections of society to the movement, Sardar Aman Kashmiri extended special thanks to traders, transporters, the youth, and ordinary citizens. He remarked, "For the past month and a half—six full weeks—you have remained steadfast on the streets. I salute each one of you for your unwavering resolve and courage." He urged supporters not to yield to any threats, pressure, or intimidation and to further strengthen the movement.
The JAAC has formally launched a long march towards Muzaffarabad, with thousands of people expected to participate. So far, the Pakistani administration and local officials in PoK have not issued an official response regarding the JAAC's demands and allegations. It is worth noting that anger had been brewing in PoK for several weeks over issues such as electricity, water, inflation, and basic amenities; this discontent has now evolved into a demand for a separate, independent nation.
