Pakistan Supreme Court Orders ex-PM Imran Khan's Immediate Transfer To Shifa Hospital: Reports (x)
Islamabad: Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed the immediate transfer of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for treatment, following concerns over his health, according to reports.
The Supreme Court has ordered the transfer of Imran Khan from jail to hospital as requested by Imran Khan’s family and lawyers in their petition.
The petition specifically requested treatment at Shifa International Hospital and supervision by Khan’s personal physicians.
Imran Khan is scheduled to be moved to Shifa International Hospital today. Dr. Faisal Sultan and Dr. Azma Khan will accompany him to the hospital as a part of the medical arrangements.
Supreme Court directs that the expenses for the hospital treatment of Imran Khan will be borne by him himself.
The decision has come amid concerns for the health condition of Imran Khan, specifically, his eyesight. As mentioned in the report presented by the jail authorities to the Supreme Court, his right eye condition had improved after the treatment at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), with his vision being described as “almost normal."
However, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) denied this claim of jail authorities and insisted upon Imran Khan’s treatment under the supervision of his personal physicians at Shifa International Hospital.
According to a medical report submitted to Supreme Court of Pakistan by Superintendent of Adiala Jail, several health issues of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan have been pointed out. They include fluctuations in blood pressure, severe mental stress, restlessness, palpitations and headache.
According to reports, blood pressure fluctuations, headache, restlessness, palpitations and severe mental stress were pointed out by Imran Khan during his medical examination conducted on 1 August 2026. He had been examined by Professor Dr. Akhtar Ali Bandishah, Consultant Cardiologist at PIMS Islamabad.
During his medical examination on 1 August 2026, Imran Khan's blood pressure was measured at 140/100 mmHg. On 2 February 2026, he had been examined by the same cardiologist, and then his blood pressure had been measured at 120/80 mmHg.
