'Let Me Die in Peace': CBI Chargesheet Reveals Twisha Sharma's Final Message Amid Mental Cruelty Allegations (X)
Bhopal: A last message sent by former actor model Twisha Sharma to her sister-in-law, just before her death, has come to the fore as a crucial piece of evidence in the CBI's case against her husband and mother-in-law, who are accused of committing mental cruelty for a prolonged period.
According to the CBI chargesheet filed before a special court in Bhopal, at 9.36 pm on May 12, Twisha Sharma had sent a message on the WhatsApp to her sister-in-law, Rashi Abrol, "Ask him to collect leftover of his wife. But tomorrow. Let me die in peace right now."
Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, and her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh (a retired district judge), have been charged by the Central Bureau of Investigation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with assault by a husband and/or relatives, abetment of suicide and common intention.
The agency's 31-page chargesheet, which has hundreds of pages of annexures, alleges that she had been subjected to psychological harassment for about six months from her marriage in December 2025.
The CBI said the alleged harassment included grievance about her pregnancy, about who the father of her unborn child was, financial grievances and repeated complaints about her character.
The agency has also claimed that Giribala had helped her son, and had encouraged him in several conflicts and helped shield him when Twisha sought to complain about his behaviour.
"The cause of death is asphyxia as a result of ante-mortem hanging, which is suicidal in manner, produced by the examined ligature material, the gymnastic belt with a ring. No other injuries of medico-legal importance found on the body of the deceased suggestive of assault/scuffle prior to death," the chargesheet said.
The CBI said that Twisha had complained the alleged mental harassment by her husband in her marital home to her parents, sister-in-law, former employers or doctors on several occasions.
About two weeks before her death, she messaged her mom on April 30 about how she wasn't doing well.
“Meri tabiyat kharab ho rahi hai. Mujhe plane mein bhi anxiety attack aaya hai, mera jeevan narak ho gaya hai mummy," Twisha said in the message.
The CBI also examined accounts from doctors and counsellors who had interacted with the couple during therapy. They told investigators that Twisha appeared "mentally disturbed".
Her gynaecologist and counsellors also discussed about uncertainty regarding her pregnancy.
CBI further alleged Samarth repeatedly asked about the father of the child. Twisha wrote a message to her mother on May 9 saying “Samarth pooch raha hai kiska bacha tha. Mummy yaha par mai bus pagal ho jaungi, mujhse nahi ho paa raha ab.”
The agency has also accused of financial differences aiding the breakdown of the relationship. In the charge sheet, it has been alleged that Samarth had requested Twisha to move investments worth Rs 20 lakh to an investment account in Chinese shares. Twisha is said to have rejected, claiming that the money was the property of her father.
The investigation noted also that Twisha has been subjected to derogatory comments regarding her character and criticism for professional setbacks.
The CBI's report of May 12, which tells of a "more and more distressed situation" in the hours preceding her death, reveals the growing anguish she faced. At that time, according to the chargesheet, Twisha spoke with her sister-in-law and family members, and also discussed the alleged financial dispute with them, and had an argument with Samarth as well.
Twisha sent the last message to Abrol at 9:36 pm. Later surveillance footage revealed that she was heading towards the terrace, the agency said.
Her parents also spoke to her that night. During the talks, they noticed she was crying and distressed, and later it was difficult for them to locate her, the CBI said.
Twisha was then rushed to AIIMS Bhopal where the doctors pronounced her dead.
