India captain Suryakumar Yadav did not shake hands with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha during the toss of the Asia Cup 2025 match in Dubai on Sunday, September 14. The two captains stood next to each other while Ravi Shastri conducted the toss, but the usual handshake did not happen.
As reported by the media, Suryakumar Yadav had already told the team management a few hours before the toss that he would not follow the regular handshake tradition with the Pakistan captain. He also said to his teammates that it was their personal choice whether to greet the Pakistan players with a handshake or not.
Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first in the Group A clash on Sunday. They gained an early edge on what seemed to be a dry pitch that offered help to spinners.
