IND Vs ENG T20I: Wayward India Blown Away By Bethell's Unbeaten 76

Manchester: England beat India by 4 wickets in the second T20 at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday. India scored 190 runs with 7 wickets down. England chased it with 6 balls to spare. Jacob Bethel was the star as he hit 76 not out off 46 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes. The first match of the five-match series was rained out. Now England leads the series 1-0. The third match will be on July 7.

How did India bat?

India won the toss and batted first. Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his debut at age of 15. He hit two sixes early off Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue. But he didn't last long as will Jacks stumped him. Vaibhav made 14 off 10 balls. Abhishek Sharma played well as he scored 43 off 24 balls with 8 fours and a six. Sam Curran got him out and Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan put on 65 runs for the third wicket. Ishan made 49 off 40 balls. Shreyas made 37 off 22 balls with 3 fours and a six. Tilak Verma hit 24 off 11 balls at the end to push India to 190. That was important as it gave India something to defend.

What went wrong for India's bowlers?

England's opening was a disaster. Arshdeep Singh took both openers out for ducks. Phil Salt and Jos Butler both went back to the pavilion without scoring. Harry Brook tried to rebuild. He made 39 off 15 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. But Akshar Patel got him out that left England at 51 for 3. India should have been in control but then things fell apart.

Who fixed England's innings?

Tom Batten and Jacob Bethel put on 67 runs for the fourth wicket. Batten made 39 off 32 balls with 6 fours. Arshdeep got him out. Then Bethel took over completely.
Bethel didn't rush. He picked the right balls to hit. He hit sixes when he needed to. He ran ones and twos when needed. By the end, England only needed him to finish it. He did that easily.

What was the turning point?

Ravi Bishnoi's 17th over was a turning point as he gave away 29 runs. That was the key moment. Before that, Arshdeep had given 27 runs in the third over. But at least Arshdeep took wickets. Bishnoi couldn't take any wicket. Bethel was in control as he wasn't going to give away his wicket and he had the power to hit boundaries.

Did Vaibhav Suryavanshi impress?

He is 15 years old and his debut was good. He came in and played two sixes immediately. That shows confidence. That shows he wasn't scared. But he got out quickly. A debutant needs to stay longer to really impress. He got 14 off 10 balls. You can't complain about that as a start.
Josh Tongue also made his T20 debut for England. He didn't do much. He went for runs.
