India Beat Sri Lanka By 165 Runs In 1st Test; Take 1-0 Series Lead (x)
New Delhi: Manav Suthar delivered an outstanding performance that helped India in overcoming their difficulties with the red ball, leading India to a dominant 165-run win against Sri Lanka in the first Test at Galle on Wednesday. The promising left-arm spinner managed to secure an impressive 10 wickets for the match on the fifth and final day.
Having set Sri Lanka a victory target of 372, India bowled out the hosts for 206 in the post-lunch session on the final day of the contest, minutes before it started raining at the Galle International Stadium.
Suthar (6-55), who took 10 wickets in his match haul, wrapped up the lead 1-0 in the series with a comprehensive win in India's 600th Test.
Sri Lanka were able to get back on the scoreboard on 84-4 and had to do it before the match was lost – perhaps with a little assistance from the weather.

Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva (59) and Sonal Dinusha (84) were in a 95-run partnership for the fifth wicket as they took a stand against India before Ravindra Jadeja came in and bowled them out.
De Silva's offside sweep shot landed a bit high against Jadeja and the Indian side was on the verge of victory.
Suthar missed a hat-trick but sent down a three-wicket over to send Sri Lanka hurtling towards defeat.
The 24-year-old took his second-hundred in the match, and then bowled Prabath Jayasuriya clean with the next ball in his first Test. Suthar sent back Lahiru Kumara with the final ball of that over and dismissed Keshara Nuwantha in the same fashion to seal India's victory.
The final Test is to be played from Colombo on Sunday.
