Asia Cup 2025 : The final of the Asia Cup 2025 was played between India and Pakistan on Sunday. In this high-voltage match, Team India defeated Pakistan by five wickets and won the Asia Cup title for the ninth time. This was the first time in the last 41 years when India and Pakistan were face to face in the finals. However, the developments that came out after the match, made the game Bhavna completely embarrassed.
Team India also performed brilliantly in the final after defeating Pakistan in the league phase and the Super-4. Chasing a target of 147 runs, India won with the help of Tilak Verma's unbeaten 69 and Shivam Dubey's 33 runs. With this victory, India defeated Pakistan for the third consecutive time in the tournament.
Controversy arose during the post-match presentation after the match. According to sources, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to take the trophy at the hands of Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Angered by this, Naqvi took the trophy with her and went out of the field. Indian players kept waiting for the trophy for a long time but when they understood that the trophy would not come now, they celebrated on the ground without a trophy.
In the press conference after the match, Suryakumar Yadav laughed and said, "We have already caught the Asia Cup trophy." On this, Abhishek Sharma, sitting next to him, said, "We also know the weight of the trophy." This reply of Indian players proved to be a big reversal for Pakistan.
The BCCI has clarified that it will register a strong protest in the ICC meeting against this act of Mohsin Naqvi. BCCI officials say it is not only a violation of sportsmanship but also hurts the dignity of big tournaments like the Asia Cup.
The Pakistan team was in controversy since the beginning of the tournament. At the time of the toss in the first match, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to join hands with Pak captain Salman Ali Aga. After this, the Pak captain was absent from the post-match presentation. In the Super-4, Sahibzada Farhan celebrated the gun after Fifty, while Haris Rauf showed the gesture of Jet Crash and the 6–0 indication to the audience. These antics were criticized all over the world.
In the final, Pakistan put the dignity of the game completely.
