India Women's South Africa Tour Expanded: Three T20Is Added to Revised Schedule (X)
New Delhi: The Indian women’s cricket team will play a tour of South Africa in December this year. However, the schedule for the tour has been significantly revised. Cricket South Africa (CSA) has added three T20 Internationals to the tour. As a result, the tour will comprise one Test match, three ODIs, and three T20 Internationals.
With a view towards preparing for the upcoming edition of ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027, scheduled to take place in February 2027 in Sri Lanka, CSA have decided to play three T20 International games against India. Both sides will be wanting to improve their preparations ahead of the major event.
CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki said that the addition of the T20 series is aimed at giving the South African team a strong preparation opportunity ahead of the Champions Trophy.
Moseki said, "We are pleased to confirm the revised schedule for India's tour of South Africa. The addition of a T20 International series during the festive season will allow our Proteas Women's team to best prepare for the inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka early next year."
Talking about India’s strength, he stated that the opportunity to play against one of the best teams of the world in all formats would be very important for the South African team.
The women’s cricket match between India and South Africa has proved to be very exciting over the years. Last year, both the teams contested in the final of the ODI World Cup and India won the title of the champions. But this year, South Africa is the winner of the T20 World Cup.
